WeChat sticker size and format requirements
Searching for the exact WeChat sticker size for main images, thumbnails, or banners? The WeChat sticker open platform enforces a fixed set of dimension, file-size, and naming rules for every asset in a submission, and most first-time rejections come from a spec mismatch rather than the content itself. Here's the current spec for each asset type, and it's exactly what this checker validates file by file:
- Main image: 240x240px, PNG or GIF, 500KB max, in sets of 8, 16, or 24
- Thumbnail: 120x120px, PNG, 50KB max, must be paired one-to-one with a main image
- Banner: 750x400px, PNG or JPG, 500KB max
- Cover: 240x240px, PNG, 500KB max
- Chat panel icon: 50x50px, PNG, 100KB max
- Appreciation guide image: 750x560px, PNG or GIF, 500KB max
- Appreciation thank-you image: 750x750px, PNG or GIF, 500KB max
- Animated loop: GIF, 24 frames max, must actually loop, not sit on a single static frame
- Format matters as much as size: a JPG where the platform expects PNG transparency, or a static image where it expects a looping GIF, both fail the check even when the pixel dimensions are exactly right.
- Edge margin: keep artwork clear of the canvas edge. The platform crops right up to the border, and art that touches it often gets cut off or rejected.
Naming matters too: files use a two-digit sequence from 01 to 24, and a main image and its thumbnail must share the same number. Gaps or mismatched numbers in the sequence count as a rejection reason on their own.
The most common rejection reasons are: dimensions off by even a single pixel, file size over the limit because nothing was compressed, main images and thumbnails whose numbering doesn't match, transparency that wasn't cleaned up properly, artwork bleeding into the edge margin, and GIFs with more frames than the platform allows. Every one of these is something this checker can catch before you upload, instead of after a rejection comes back.
